C/S053 LOS LLAMARADA DEEP DARK VAST C37
Monterrey, Mexico’s Los Llamarada return with their fifth full-length offering. These tracks see the band come back to their roots of 4-track recording and creating the core of each song from improvisation. However, unlike previous albums these initial improvisations are kept in a rawer state with minimal edits or overdubs. The result is a tapering back of some of the Post Punk songwriting tendencies of “Space And Time,” with more room given over to pure experimentation. Jagged No Wave grooves and repetitive minimalism are fused with Estrella and Sagan’s unique vocal styles, which lie somewhere between harmonious singing and spastic shout-talking, demanding listener attention at all times. With the return of familiar players, including Joaquin of Ratas Del Vaticano, and the addition of vital new ones, “Deep Dark Vast” is the dream lineup of the band, and a strong representation of how they’ve grown, evolved, and stayed the same for over 20 years.
