C/S052 SURVIVAL TACTICS S/T C36

Hailing from the Westville section of New Haven, Survival Tactics makes his debut with C/Site, as well as his first physical release. Survival Tactics first made contact with the C/Site crew in 2023 and quickly endeared himself to all of New Haven. A prolific songwriter and noise maker, his previous work can be found through his label King Shag Corpse on Bandcamp. On this tape Survival Tactics displays a wide range of influences: from Ohio stalwarts such as Jim Shepard and Peter Laughner, UK DIY (Fuck Off Records), early 70s Art Rock (from the likes of Eno and Hammil, all the way to Magical Power Mako), The New Zealand experimentalists (the crown trio of Alastair Galbraith, and the brothers Jefferies come to mind), and local Connecticut gems such as Shrinnirs and Shirese. At times the hiss of shrill feedback driven guitar is paired with homemade drum kits, while at others winding acoustic guitars layer over one another. There's even one track, in which a Hurdy Gurdy is met with deep rhythmic pulses. And for every moment of spastic chaos there is soothing gentleness and introspective ponder. A stunning release from a very prolific individual, who is not to be taken lightly.

This release would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Matt Paolillo of Shirese.

Tape lengths vary, as cassettes that may have otherwise been discarded were used for the production of this release; trying to be a little less wasteful in this often very wasteful pursuit in physical media.

Limited to 50 copies.
